Russia and Ukraine swap 350 soldiers in UAE-brokered deal
Russia and Ukraine have successfully exchanged 175 soldiers each, along with seven civilians, in a new humanitarian operation mediated by the UAE.

MOSCOW, Russia — The Russian Ministry of Defense announced a successful prisoner exchange with Ukraine on April 11, resulting in the mutual release of 175 soldiers from each side and seven civilians.
The humanitarian operation, brokered through the mediation efforts of the United Arab Emirates, marks another critical diplomatic step aimed at alleviating human suffering amid the ongoing military conflict.
UAE mediation and civilian release
According to official statements published via Telegram, the Russian Defense Ministry confirmed the mutual return of the military personnel, emphasizing the crucial role of the UAE in facilitating the talks.
In addition to the 350 soldiers, Voice of Emirates reported that seven Russian citizens from the Kursk region, who had been detained by Kyiv, were also freed during the operation. Authorities noted that these newly freed civilians are scheduled to return to their homes immediately.
Medical rehabilitation in Belarus
Following their release from captivity, the Russian soldiers were securely transported to neighboring Belarus. Officials indicated that the military personnel are currently undergoing comprehensive health screenings and receiving necessary psychological support at temporary staging areas.
After completing their initial medical assessments, the troops will be transferred back to Russia. Defense Ministry representatives stated that the soldiers will undergo further treatment and extensive rehabilitation programs at the ministry's advanced medical facilities.
